The houses were the most baffling part of astrology for me because no one could explain them. Most teachers said "Treat them like the signs - first house is Aries" etc. Except there are already signs, so why duplicate with houses? I got the feeling that teachers and most authors never really knew what the houses were for either, passing on the same vague info to me. The cookbook method never worked well for me as I want to know why. Why is the second house money and values? How are they related? The 12th house as prisons and hospitals, how does that help most people? Finally the houses are explained as themselves, not as compared to signs. They have much more depth for me now. Charts I had memorized have come alive with rich new essences. I highly recommend this book because this area of astrology has been quickly mumbled through for far too long. YAY! I learned a lot. I especially liked the houses as the human life cycle. It gave them an interconnectedness sorely lacking.
Ive been studying Astrology for years, I find it fascinating, understanding well the house system is one of the trickier aspects of Astrology, this is the best book that I have found on the subject that bis still in print (that I know of) Buy it!
This book was recommended by an astrological colleague. It is one of the best astrology book purchases I have made lately. There is the most complete book on houses I have read, and I have several. There was much more information than I expected. Each house was examined from every possible perspective. I have been reading it constantly and as I do charts since I received it. I only wish I had it earlier!!! I would highly recommend it to every level of astrologer. No astrologer would be disappointed. I am very grateful for the addition of this book to my astrological library.
A+++ I'm about 1/2 way through with this book and it's already given me so much valuable insight to the system of houses... way beyond the cookbook style of relating to house structure. Sasportas provides an invaluable, linear look at the 12 houses that's useful to the novice and the professional alike.
The best book I've read so far on astrology. Not only does Sasportas give a straightforward approach to the houses, planets and signs, he also gives very grounded and practical symbology that goes deep. I understand the system of astrology for the first time in my life because of this book.
Great book to buy, I'm not done yet, but I'm reading the 9th house now and if you understand conceptual thinking, this will definitely explain thing better than all the random listing description. This book tells you why and brings all the meaning together so as to develop and understanding of the houses. O yea and the seller shipped quickly!
